ACLI CAPITAL CHALLENGE
WEDNESDAY, MAY 17, 2017
Anacostia Park, Washington, DC
Thanks to the support of the American Council of Life Insurers, its member companies and the ACLI Capital Challenge Road Race, this guide dog partnership was made possible:
DONALD OVERTON, U.S. ARMY (RET.) AND PIERCE
Born in Norwalk, CT. Served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division (HHC 3rd BN 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment) during the first Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm). Sustained blinding blast injury in Iraq.
Don has navigated through life with his white cane, along with the support of his wife and two sons. While participating in an educational trip, Don realized his twelve-year-old son, Jordan, was serving as his sighted guide, and missing out on the historical experience - it was then that Don knew it was time to get a Fidelco guide dog.
"I've used a cane for the past 25 years, and when I first took hold of the harness of my new Fidelco guide dog [Pierce}, I felt free," Don expressed.
"I have seen a new confidence in Don," shares his wife, Peggy. "...and I can't thank Fidelco enough for their part in it. My husband's new guide dog is a very loving companion and dedicated to his work. We all have fallen in love."

Every 7 minutes someone in America becomes blind or visually impaired.
Blindness does not discriminate - it could happen to any one of us. For those fortunate enough to receive a Fidelco German Shepherd Guide Dog, it means a life of increased independence and a future filled with possibility. We invite you to share in the amazing process of creating a Fidelco Guide Dog.
Better yet, become a Fidelco Hero by making a recurring donation to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation!
As a Fidelco Hero, you'll stand with us each and every month as we feed, raise and train our German Shepherd pups to become a hero guide partner. To become a Fidelco Hero, please check the "RECURRING GIFT" button below.
As a thank you for your generous support, we will send you our news magazine, FidelcoNews, with heart-warming stories of the recipients whose lives have been changed because of your generosity.
