Interested in working on a team that makes a difference every day?
Our mission is to partner people who are blind with the highest-quality German Shepherd Guide Dogs, providing all clients with increased independence to improve their lives and the world around them.
Our employees make a difference every day.
Throughout its 60-year history, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation has focused its efforts on providing the highest quality German Shepherd Guide Dogs to men and women who are blind.
Initially, the Fidelity Breeders Cooperative bred German Shepherd Dogs and donated them to other guide dog training organizations.
In 1981, the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation became a training organization and placed five of its elite quality “breed within a breed” German Shepherd Guide Dogs with blind clients. Fidelco also introduced In-Community Placement® into the United States to benefit all clients and ensure team success. Both continue to serve as hallmarks of the organization with almost 1,500 guide dog teams placed across North America. In 2010, Fidelco introduced 24/7/365 client service along with annual wellness and safety follow-up training visits with every client team.
Having the right people who are fully-engaged in the delivery of Fidelco’s mission is not just a business priority, it is the most important strategic priority that ensures Fidelco’s success.
People with a passion for Fidelco’s mission will be successful. We understand the critical role that team work plays in our success. Fidelco emphasizes employee engagement and professional development as key components of success in the growth and retention of top talent, especially for a nonprofit organization that competes head-to-head with for-profit industry for this top talent.
We also encourage employees to have fun at work. We attend many events, and also have regularly-scheduled employee activities to ensure we have some time to get together as a team, share stories, and enjoy some refreshments!
Values-driven organization culture
Delivering Fidelco’s mission consistently, and achieving the organization’s Vision, requires our commitment to a values-driven culture. Everything we do – all decisions we make, all actions we take, and how we treat the people we serve and the animals we care for – will be guided by our core values every day.
We keep our promises guided by unquestionable honesty, fairness and respect; and we take personal responsibility for our actions.
We strive to deliver excellence in everything we do throughout the organization – our clients’ lives depend upon it.
We draw inspiration from the accomplishments of our exceptional clients and their elite guide dog partners; and we use this energy to inspire everyone to work together to make our organization better.
We believe in unqualified kindness towards people and animals, and respect for their well-being.
Blindness does not discriminate. It affects both genders without bias, and it challenges people of all ages, races, religions, and education and socio-economic levels, who live in a world that presumes everyone has the gift of sight.
Fidelco respects and appreciates people from different backgrounds and cultures. We believe that an imperative to securing future success is to embrace diverse backgrounds and competencies within our team of employees, volunteers and clients.
Fidelco Guide Dogs is an inclusive workplace and accommodations can be available.
