A Candle for "Keesha"

This year’s Walk for Fidelco is on May 17th from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Manchester Community College in Manchester, Connecticut. The Walk is always a great deal of fun and an opportunity for friends, old and new, to meet and share special times together.

This year’s Walk will also be an opportunity for contemplation as we have created an Honor/Memorial Trail where you can take a quiet moment to view the many candles that are lit in memory and in honor of loved ones, both human and canine.

One candle will be lit in remembrance of Keesha, Lillian Johnson’s wonderful Fidelco guide dog who recently passed away. Lillian and Keesha were together for 10 years and, as Lillian says, “They broke the mold when they made her. She kept me safe and secure and her social skills were wonderful. She made herself loved by everyone who met her.”

Lillian will walk this year in honor of Keesha and, as a Fidelco board member and client liaison, in support of all the other Fidelco clients. “I have gone to every Walk but one,” said Lillian, “I love the camaraderie and the chance to meet different people and to talk with them about Fidelco. I wouldn’t miss it for the world because I feel Fidelco is the gateway to independence.”

For more information on how to participate or to order a honor/memorial candle, visit www.walkforfidelco.org or call Jan Adams at 860-243-4801.
